This wallpaper contains a constellation of flowers, fruits, butterflies, birds, fishes and a blooming paradise tree full of fruit. It’s easy to imagine that a pattern like Paradise is strictly a figment of Josef Frank’s design imagination, but it is almost always possible to track a source of some kind – either from nature or from art history.
The wallpaper is distemper printed on non-woven in accordance with an old tradition at Ulricehamns Tapetfabrik, where each individual machine setting is still carried out by hand by experienced distemper printers. This imbues the wallpaper design with a more vibrant feel and the technique brings us closer to Josef Frank’s original and design concept.
