Textile La Plata Linen 315, La Plata, Green

220 USD (incl. VAT)

The La Plata print was designed by Josef Frank in 1943-1945, and named after Rio de la Plata, the great river estuary outside of Buenos Aires. The original print has a variation of blue tones, but Svenskt Tenn now presents the fabric in a green colourway, made after a fabric sample that has been preserved in the archive since Josef Frank's time.

Josef Frank’s textiles with the 315 linen designation are best suited for curtains, pillows and other textile products. They can also be used as upholstery fabric on furniture that is not exposed to excessive wear, such as in the home.

  • Designer: Josef Frank

Josef Frank grew up in Vienna and studied architecture at Konstgewerbeschule. In the 1920s he designed housing estates and large residential blocks built around common courtyards in a Vienna with severe housing shortages. In 1925 he started the Haus & Garten interior firm together with architect colleagues Oskar Wlach and Walther Sobotka. Svenskt Tenn hired Josef Frank in 1934 and just a few years later he and Estrid Ericson made their international breakthrough. Although he was already 50 when he left the burgeoning Nazism in Vienna for Sweden, Frank is considered one of Sweden’s most important designers. Read more
