Svenskt Tenn's coasters are available in several colourful prints by Josef Frank, suitable for everyday use as well as for special occasions. They are sold in a set of six.

Vegetable plants from Italy were undeniably Josef Frank’s inspiration for the Italian Dinner print. Stems, leaves and fruit shapes build vertical bands with an olive branch in the centre. The horizontal stream with yellow striped red mullet, squid, mussels and lobster balances the composition. Josef Frank designed this print in 1943-1945.

Svenskt Tenn developed this design using Josef Frank's print.

Josef Frank grew up in Vienna and studied architecture at Technische Hochschule (the Vienna University of Technology) in 1903 – 1908. In 1925, he founded the Haus & Garten interior firm together with architect colleague Oskar Wlach. Svenskt Tenn hired Josef Frank in 1934 and just a few years later he and Estrid Ericson made their international breakthrough. Although he was already 50 when he left the burgeoning Nazism in Vienna for Sweden, Frank is considered one of Sweden’s most important designers. Read More

  • Care instructions

The placemat cannot be used for plates and saucepans directly from the stove or oven. To clean the surface, wipe the placemat with a slightly damp cloth. Never rinse the placemat under running water, as the lamination is sensitive to moisture. Avoid contact with wet surfaces on the underside as the colour from the flocked paper can rub off.
