When Eric Ericson designed the unusual card game “Horse Spades”, his inspiration came from Svenskt Tenn’s founder, Estrid Ericson. The Joker that is depicted is, among other things, a further development of the shape in one of her ornamental objects. Another recurring source of inspiration is the ancient city of Palmyra, with its temples, statues and columns. The solid pewter case is adorned with two texts, which translate into: “Clover on your mind and hearts in the imagination. Horse spades up the sleeve. But you won anyway,” and, “Come play solitaire! See you at 3:41. Welcome!”
