A small, atmospheric brass shooting star to hang in Svenskt Tenn’s candle ring or in the Christmas tree. The idea for the motifs in the Vintergatan (Milky Way) collection was based on the thought of a shooting star. Something to gather around to make wishes and dream.
Maja Sten (f.1974) is an illustrator and designer. She studied at Konstfack before she moved to London and finished her studies at the Royal College of Art. After graduating she returned to Stockholm where she opened her studio. Her creations are often naive and colourful, mixing line engraving with her own personal mythology. Her main inspiration comes from folkart and Flora and Fauna.
We have always and will always strive to protect Swedish craftsmanship when we manufacture our products, but when there are no skilled craftspeople in Sweden, our production goes where craftsmanship is available. Therefore, some of our brass products are manufactured in India. Both of our Indian suppliers are subject to Svenskt Tenn’s code of conduct, which covers social issues such as safety and the environment. Svenskt Tenn staff visits regularly to ensure that the code of conduct is adhered to. The bulk of the copper used in our Indian suppliers’ brass is recycled.
