Candle Holder Star Pewter

60 USD (incl. VAT)

The star-shaped candle holder from 1931 is now back in Svenskt Tenn's range. Back then, it was made out of gilded lead and it passed under the name "Lightstar". As a glimmering North Star it has now once again taken its place at the laid table, available in brass or classic pewter.

  • Designer: Svenskt Tenn

Eighty percent of Svenskt Tenn’s collection consists of products that are of our own design. Josef Frank alone left behind 2,000 furniture sketches and about 160 textile designs. Sometimes Svenskt Tenn produces products based on models from the archive, which contains sketches and designs from both Josef Frank and Estrid Ericson.

  • Care instructions

Pewter is a soft material that requires careful treatment. We recommend using cotton gloves when handling pewter. Objects that are not being used can be stored in a plastic or felt bag to avoid scratching.

It is generally recommended to avoid using polish on pewter, since it can cause scratches. To remove fingerprints and other stains, rinse the pewter in warm water with a small amount of dish detergent. Dry with a soft cloth. For more advanced cleaning of pewter objects we recommend a professional restorer, for example, KA Johnsson in Stockholm.

Pewter has a lower melting point than other metals, which means that candles should never be left to burn down completely. This can cause the pewter to melt and lose its shape, which cannot be restored. As a precaution, blow out the candles when there is still 4-5 cm left.
