Candle Holder Flow Pewter

320 USD (incl. VAT)

The New Swedish Pewter collection was created prior to Svenskt Tenn’s 80-year anniversary in 2004. It was developed by 10 female Swedish designers to honour Svenskt Tenn’s founder Estrid Ericson. The candle holder Flow is one of the objects in the collection. With Gustavian column-shaped candle holders as inspiration, Sissi Westerberg decided to create a contemporary version in pewter. The base of the candle holder has a soft shape that makes the pewter appear as if it accidentely has flowed and hardened.

  • Care instructions

Pewter is a soft material that requires careful treatment. We recommend using cotton gloves when handling pewter. Objects that are not being used can be stored in a plastic or felt bag to avoid scratching.

It is generally recommended to avoid using polish on pewter, since it can cause scratches. To remove fingerprints and other stains, rinse the pewter in warm water with a small amount of dish detergent. Dry with a soft cloth. For more advanced cleaning of pewter objects we recommend a professional restorer, for example, KA Johnsson in Stockholm.

Pewter has a lower melting point than other metals, which means that candles should never be left to burn down completely. This can cause the pewter to melt and lose its shape, which cannot be restored. As a precaution, blow out the candles when there is still 4-5 cm left.
