Pepis Flora

“Will Frank’s flora ever wither? It does not seem so. The superb composition, the joyful colours, the organic forms and the artistic wit arouse interest and delight in generation after generation.”

Kristina Wängberg-Eriksson
Author of the book Josef Frank Textile Designs (Pepis Flora)

Exhibited at Strandvägen 5 10.06.2021 – 15.08.2021

Josef “Pepi” Frank’s botanic designs mix real flowers such as tulips, forget-me-nots and lily of the valley with plants and fruit motifs, inspired by different places and cultures of the world. Together, the botanical motifs create a unique and exciting floral world which over the years has been preserved, exhibited and brought to life at Svenskt Tenn. In the Summer of 2021, bonds will be tied between this world and Estrid Ericson's gardening interest, her self-composed flora elements in the interior.

In this year's summer exhibition, a historical pattern by Josef Frank is also re-launched. California was designed during 1942–1945. The inspiration for the flowers in the motif was found in Gladys Lynwall Pratt's American Garden Flowers, published in New York in 1943.
