Josef Frank found inspiration for the pattern Hawaii at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There he found a remarkable collection of “Trees of Life” from the north side of the Indian peninsula. This pattern, with its intertwined stems, bears similarities to these trees.
Hawaii was designed during the years 1943-45 and is one of Frank’s largest patterns with a repeat of 180 cm.
Textile Hawaii also comes in a heavier quality, called 450 linen.
