Book Estrid Ericson

The book focuses on Estrid Ericson’s early work, the design debate in the 1920’s and 30’s and Svenskt Tenn before the collaboration with Josef Frank – a time period with an aesthetic characterized by both classism and strict modernism.
– The book highlights a period about which very little has been written. It is fascinating to read about how skilled Estrid Ericson was as an artistic leader and her ability to continually reinvent herself. These traits inspire us in our mission to preserve her legacy in a contemporary fashion, says Thommy Bindefeld, Marketing Manager at Svenskt Tenn.

Estrid Ericson founded Svenskt Tenn in 1924. As a designer and artistic leader she attracted many of the most interesting contemporary artists, architects and designers such as Uno Åhrén, Björn Trägårdh and Anna Petrus to the company. Estrid Ericson’s eye for esthetics and ability to lead Svenskt Tenn had a great impact on contemporary Swedish design.

The book is published by Orosdi-Back and is part of a series of paperback books on designers and architects based in Sweden. A book about Josef Frank is to be released later this year and will also be sold at Svenskt Tenn.
