For our 80-year anniversary in 2004, we decided to return to our origin material pewter, which is the basis for our entire operation. When Estrid Ericson founded Svenskt Tenn the main focus was on designing pewter items. The private-label pieces quickly became popular in the cultural circles of the time. Pewter items from Svenskt Tenn are stamped with the so-called “Angel seal” that Estrid Ericson commissioned Acke Kumlin and Bertil Lybeck to design, prior to the store’s opening in 1924.
In 2004, in honour of Estrid Ericson’s lifetime achievement, ten of Sweden’s most well-known female designers were given the task of experimenting and reviving the use of pewter as a material. Margot Barolo, Eva Hild, An¬nika Jarring, Anna Kraitz, Ulrika Mårtensson, Signe Persson-Melin, Ingegerd Råman, Anna von Schewen, Eva Schildt and Sissi Wester¬berg participated in the project, which resulted in the new, highly esteemed pewter collection.
