Josef Frank was very productive, his estate leaving about 200 textile and 2,000 furniture designs for Estrid Ericson and Svenskt Tenn to manage. The Josef Frank products now introduced include an engraved pewter table, a textile-dressed cabinet, a sofa and a bag.
Josef Frank created the Stockholm Table in 1938. The top was made of stone, but a small number had an engraved pewter top by the sculptor Nils Fougstedt, who collaborated closely with Estrid Ericson. The table is now being re-launched in a limited edition of 10.
Josef Frank found the inspiration for the 522 cabinet in Great Britain, where dressing furniture in textile was common. Designed in 1934, it is now being produced in mahogany and covered with textiles Celatocaulis, Miracle Brown or Hawaii.
The extra generous five seat sofa 3031 was custom made by Josef Frank for the home of Kjell and Märta Beijer, whose foundation is the present owner of Svenskt Tenn. It is now available in models with five, four, three or two seats to fit rooms of all sizes. A new model of Svenskt Tenn’s popular textile bag comes in a choice of the Teheran or Vegetable Tree pattern.
Prices: Bag SEK 950. Table SEK 175,000. Cabinet SEK 78,000. Sofa starting at SEK 26,500.
