Svenskt Tenn’s founder Estrid Ericson drank her favourite tea twice a day: two and a half cups in the morning and two and a half cups with lunch. What could be more natural then to open a tea salon in her honour? The tea salon has the same opening hours as the store. Take a moment to sit down and relax here!
“The first cup moistens my lips and throat;
The second cup breaks my loneliness;
The third cup searches my barren entrail;
The fourth cup raises a slight perspiration;
At the fifth cup I am purified;
The sixth cup calls me to the realms of the immortals.”
Estrid Ericson often quoted the Chinese poet Lu Tung’s homage to tea from the 700s.
Menu
Tea is a particularly fine choice of drink to have with a meal. Its mellow, pure character enhances mild as well as strong-tasting foods without losing its subtle tea taste – a magical quality.
Bai Mu Dan (white, China) — 90 kr
A white tea of both buds and leaves from the Fujian province in South-Eastern China. This tea has a mild, pure taste with a round sweetness and nutty flavour. A little more full-bodied than most white teas and therefore an extra good match with food.
Organic Darjeeling (black, India)* — 90 kr
Refreshing tea leaves from the Singell garden near Darjeeling in Northern India. The most elegant of the black teas in the British tea tradition is created here, over a thousand metres high in the Himalayan Mountains.
Nuwara Eliya OP (black, Sri Lanka) — 60 kr
Refined, full-body taste and well-balanced tea leaves from the balmy, 2000-metre heights of Nuwara Eliya on Sri Lanka. Similar to Darjeeling teas but richer in flavour.
Assam Dimakushi CTC (black, India) — 60 kr
Full-bodied, spicy, black tea from the Assam region. The extra fine separated leaves give a stronger brew, perfect to enjoy with milk or sugar and with really sweet as well as strong tastes.
Choicest (oolong, Taiwan) — 90 kr
A medium-bodied (semi-oxidized) oolong tea from Taiwan with fine nuttiness and the sweetness of dried fruit which goes especially well with meals as well as sandwiches and sweet things. As with so many oolong teas, it goes well with just about everything.
Dong Ding (oolong, Taiwan) — 90 kr
Oolong country Taiwan’s most renowned oolong tea. The tea plants grow in the Lugu region’s Dong Ding mountain. The taste is very mellow and refreshing while the scent can best be described as an explosion of flowery aromas.
Tarry Lapsang Souchong (black, smoked, Taiwan) — 75 kr
A smoky and very powerful tea from Taiwan. Its taste becomes much milder when enjoyed with food and it is a fine complement to sandwiches as well as sweet things. The smoky character goes incredibly well with chocolate.
Sencha (green, Japan)— 90 kr
The most common of the Japanese teas. Its full-bodied, slight tannin taste goes perfectly with food. Sencha’s fragrance of sea, algae and vegetables makes it suitable not only for sushi but also for Swedish sandwiches and pastries.
Green lime tea (flavoured green tea)* — 60 kr
Although most Chinese green teas are roasted, these tea leaves have been steamed, lending a Japanese touch. The tea is then flavoured with the natural and refreshing lime, lemon and daisies.
Green jasmine tea (flavoured green tea)* — 75 kr
Jasmine tea goes wonderfully with food, which is why it is so popular in China. Our quality Monkey King jasmine tea is a full-bodied, lightly roasted green tea combined with an intensive aroma of real jasmine flowers.
Green mint tea (green, flavoured tea) — 60 kr
This green tea from Taiwan is a gunpowder tea, meaning that it has been rolled into pellets. This particular tea has a full-body flavour with a distinct taste of mint.
Earl Grey Blue (black, flavoured tea)* — 60 kr
Full-bodied and energising, the most classic of the British tea blends is a natural for Afternoon Tea. This particular blend is made from Chinese black tea from the Anhui province and flavoured with the Bergamot citrus fruit, cornflowers and mallow.
Svenskt Tenn’s own blend (black, flavoured)* — 75 kr
Our own blend is based on two classic black Chinese teas in the form of spicy Keemun and Yunnan. We have lightened up their rich flavours with the refreshing tastes of lemon and elder. Extra nice with a slice of lemon or orange.
Svenskt Tenn Classic (black, flavoured)* — 75 kr
Full-bodied black tea from the Sichuan province in China. This tea is refreshing and fruity with touches of raspberry, orange peel, blackberry, mango and sunflower. Goes best with fruity, berry flavours and with the sweetest of sweets.
